The Carfulan Group welcomed 30 enthusiastic engineering students from The JCB Academy to its state-of-the-art Advanced Innovation Centre, offering them a rare opportunity to interact directly with cutting-edge technology.

The visit provided an immersive, hands-on experience with machines from across the group’s divisions – OGP UK, SYS Systems, ZOLLER UK and VICIVISION UK – giving the students invaluable insights into the modern engineering and manufacturing world.

The day was structured to provide maximum learning value, with interactive demonstrations and practical sessions designed to show how advanced technologies can solve real-world engineering challenges.

From multi-sensor metrology systems by OGP UK to the revolutionary 3D printing capabilities of Stratasys with SYS Systems, each station introduced the students to equipment and techniques used at the forefront of industry innovation.

Students competed in the Metrios Challenge to measure key component features in the fastest time, inspected tooling with ZOLLER UK and post-processed 3D printed keyrings to take home.

Students gained a deeper understanding of the technologies that are shaping the engineering sector, which will undoubtedly benefit their current studies and future careers. The hands-on nature of the visit allowed them to connect theoretical knowledge from their classrooms to practical, real-world applications, reinforcing key engineering concepts and introducing them to emerging industry trends.

Lewis Hearne, Group Marketing Manager at Carfulan Group, said: “It’s always a pleasure to welcome the next generation of engineers to our facility. The JCB Academy students were incredibly engaged and eager to learn, which made the day all the more rewarding.

“By providing hands-on access to cutting-edge machinery and technology, we aim to inspire them to pursue careers in engineering and manufacturing while showcasing the exciting opportunities available within our apprenticeship scheme.”
