AM Kimya invests in two of “the best” Stratasys Fortus 450 mc 3D printers
French additive manufacturing (AM) company Kimya has invested in two Stratasys Fortus 450 mc 3D printers to support its product and material development process. The printers will enable the company’s industrial designers, engineers, material scientists and digital manufacturing specialists to iterate rapidly and efficiently.
Pierre-Antoine Pluvinage, Business Director at Kimya said:
“We have been working closely with Stratasys for several years and steadfastly believe that when it comes to operating industrial-level systems to develop and test materials and their associated application scenarios, the company’s Fortus 3D printers are the best out there.”
Kimya have tested and worked with the Kimya PC-FR material on the Fortus 450 mc. The material offers enhanced impact resistance and high heat resistance up to 250 °C making it perfect for applications in manufacturing, particularly in the railway sector. Pierre-Antoine added:
“On behalf of manufacturers and OEMs within the railway sector, we are already looking at which parts can be produced for specific applications, a good example being ventilation grids for rail carriages.
“Working with Kimya PC-FR material on certain 3D printers would have been complicated, but we never had a problem with the Fortus.”
The Stratasys Fortus FDM range of 3D printers are based on a reliable Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) technology that provides accurate, high quality printing with minimal post-processing required. Offering a build envelope of 406 x 355 x 406 mm, the Fortus range is ideal for producing large production runs without compromising on quality or precision.
Mark Thomas, Senior Vice President of Advanced Technologies at Stratasys said:
“As a leader in additive manufacturing, we are delighted to welcome Kimya as the latest customer to adopt our advanced multi-material systems.
“By investing in state-of-the-art 3D printing technology, Kimya is helping to shape the future of manufacturing in demanding industries like aerospace and automotive.”
