8 days of industrial action slows Felixstowe port

8-days of container strikes have taken place in Felixstowe, UK with over 2000 people joining forces to protest against docker wages in the “cash rich port of Felixstowe”. The industrial action has been made due to a cited disconnect between the money the port generates as the UK’s largest and internationally significant port, and the wages during an increasingly visible cost of living crisis.
The protests have caused significant disruption to shipping routes and has in turn led to a rise in the price of some goods in the UK. This strike is in response to a pay dispute, with the strikers becoming the latest union in Britain to fight back against the cost of living crisis, demanding higher wages.
