Carfulan Group was proud to be headline sponsor of Derbyshire Falcons’ Metro Bank One-Day Cup fixture against Glamorgan at Repton School on Friday 31st July, the company’s second year backing the occasion, and this time the home side gave the crowd a result to celebrate.
Twelve months on from the county’s first game at the ground since 1988, the Falcons repeated their total of 315, but where last year’s effort fell agonisingly short, this one proved more than enough. Glamorgan came up short on 271, handing Derbyshire a 44-run victory and their first win of this season’s One-Day Cup campaign.
A maiden century steals the show
Wicketkeeper Brooke Guest was the star of the day, striking an unbeaten 108 from just 82 balls for his maiden List A hundred. He finished in style too, pulling the final ball of the innings for his fifth six. Caleb Jewell, who scored a century at Repton last summer, added 84 as the pair put on 115 in 18 overs.
With the ball, it was a local hero who sealed the result. Nick Potts, from nearby Swarkestone, returned career-best List A figures of 4 for 39 to close out the chase, while Ben Aitchison’s double strike in his fourth over set the tone early. Glamorgan’s Alex Horton battled hard with 81 from 57 balls, but the target always stayed out of reach.
More than a sponsorship
Carfulan Group returned as headline sponsor alongside its friends at Baron & Grant Investment Management, continuing the partnership that brought first-class cricket back to Repton in 2025.
